I design the places where interfaces, agents, and physical hardware meet.
For 15+ years I've designed interfaces for consumer hardware, most recently the ambient devices in the Google Nest lineup. My independent work now is about the moment an agent starts acting on your behalf: what the device shows, what it doesn't, and how a thing on a shelf earns that permission.
Featured
- MonolithA voice travel companion that rides in my passenger seat. It knows where I am and what the cabin air is like, and answers out loud when I press a button.
- Ambient Autonomy EvalAn eval for one ambient-agent decision: should it observe, suggest, act, or refuse? Hand-labeled cases across wearables, car cabins, factories, medical devices, and robots. Run 1 scored 48 of 50; both misses came from safety controls the model acted on because acting looked protective. After defining "safety-related" and adding 4 act cases, Run 3 scored 54 of 54.
- Safety LineA RAG reference tool that answers questions about safety guidance for physical and ambient AI. It draws on 8 public NIST, NHTSA, FDA, OSHA, and AI Safety Report documents, cites page numbers, and says so when the documents don't cover a question.
- SynthesizerA browser modular synth with real patch cables and twelve module types. React, TypeScript, and the Web Audio API.
